More about our Studs
Electrical studs provide fixed threaded connection points on bus bars, distribution panels, chassis earth points, and custom mounting locations throughout vehicle and equipment electrical systems. Unlike bolt-type connections where the fastener must be completely removed to release the connected wire, stud-mounted connections use ring-terminal and lug connections secured by a nut — allowing individual circuits to be added or removed from a shared connection point without disturbing other connected wires. Brass and plated steel studs are standard for automotive and industrial applications, providing good conductivity and corrosion resistance for the connection environment.
In mine-spec vehicle electrical systems, studs are used at main earth distribution points, accessory power distribution bars, and junction panels where multiple circuits must share a common connection point. Proper stud installation provides a mechanically secure anchor for ring terminal connections that will not loosen under the vibration experienced by mining vehicles in rough-terrain operation. Stud selection must account for thread size and length to suit the number and thickness of ring terminals that will be stacked on the stud during the vehicle's service life.
Minespec NSW stocks electrical studs in the thread sizes and lengths commonly used in automotive and industrial electrical installation. Our team can assist with stud selection and installation planning for vehicle electrical distribution panels and earth point assemblies in mine-spec vehicle builds.
