More about our Battery Terminal Bolt
Bolt-type battery terminals use a threaded bolt and nut to provide a secure, high-torque battery post connection that is the most permanent and vibration-resistant of all battery terminal connection methods. Bolt terminals are standard on heavy commercial vehicles, mining equipment, and other heavy-duty applications where the highest level of connection security is required and battery disconnection is an infrequent, planned maintenance activity. Properly torqued bolt-type battery terminals maintain consistent contact pressure throughout the vehicle service interval, resisting the loosening that can affect clamp-type terminals under severe vibration.
Bolt battery terminals are available in configurations to suit different battery post types (top-post and side-post) and cable entry orientations. Material options include lead-alloy (standard), copper (higher conductivity), and tin-plated copper (best corrosion resistance) to suit different installation environments and electrical performance requirements. Correct installation requires clean battery posts and terminal bores, proper torquing to specification, and the application of anti-corrosion compound to protect the connection against the electrolytic corrosion that develops over time at battery terminal interfaces.
Minespec NSW stocks bolt-type battery terminals for heavy-duty vehicle and equipment battery connection applications. For mine-spec vehicle builds and fleet maintenance programs, our team can advise on the most appropriate terminal type and specification for your battery system requirements, including battery cable sizing and connection system design.
