More about our Glands
Cable glands are mechanical sealing devices fitted at the point where cables enter enclosures, junction boxes, control panels, and equipment housings, providing both mechanical cable support and an environmental seal that prevents moisture, dust, and contaminants from entering the enclosure through the cable entry aperture. In mining, industrial, and marine electrical installations, correctly specified and installed cable glands are essential to maintaining the IP protection rating of the enclosure — even a high-rated IP67 enclosure will fail its sealing requirements if cable entries are not properly glanged.
Cable glands are available in a range of thread sizes and types (metric M-series and PG series are most common in industrial and automotive applications), cable outer diameter ranges, and IP protection levels. Single-cable glands seal around individual cables, while multi-cable glands and blanking plugs for unused entries complete the enclosure sealing system. Material selection — standard plastic, nylon, or stainless steel — depends on the environmental conditions and chemical exposure at the installation location.
Minespec NSW stocks cable glands for mining vehicle junction box installations, control panel entries, and industrial enclosure cable management applications. Proper cable gland selection must match both the cable outer diameter (to achieve the required seal compression) and the enclosure panel thickness. Our team can assist with cable gland specification for your specific enclosure and cable combination.
