More about our Boots
Connector boots and cable boots are protective covers that shield the rear of connectors, cable terminations, and junction points from mechanical damage, moisture ingress, and contaminant exposure. In mining vehicle harness applications, boots provide an additional layer of protection at the vulnerable transition point where cable enters a connector or terminal — a location where flex fatigue can compromise cable insulation and where moisture ingress via the cable-to-connector interface can cause corrosion at the contact faces.
Connector boots are available as pre-shaped moulded rubber or PVC boots that slide onto the cable before connector assembly, or as heat shrink boots that conform to the connector and cable shape when heated. Straight, angled (typically 45° or 90°), and bifurcated boot shapes are available to accommodate different harness routing requirements at the connector exit. Quality boots resist oil, fuel, and UV degradation, maintaining their protective properties throughout the service life of the vehicle or equipment.
Minespec NSW stocks connector boots and cable boots for the main connector families in our range, including Deutsch and Superseal series boots, along with general-purpose automotive connector boots in common sizes. Correct boot specification must account for both the cable outer diameter and the connector body dimensions — our team can assist in identifying the correct boot for your specific connector and cable combination.
